You can add a streak of color to these lures with any textile or permanent marker.
This lure has a spinner blade added to my 4" classic gar lure. It helps attract fish with a little extra flash. When conditions aren't perfect, this little help can mean the difference between catching a gar or going home empty handed.
Head out on a fishing boat for a brand new kind of adventure with these special fishing lures, meant for catching gar. Catching gar is fun because they’re not easy to catch with traditional hooks and put up a good fight. Most anglers ignore them because of this. Their very bony mouth makes it near impossible for a hook to catch. But their teeth catch easily in this hook-less rope lure, making them able to be caught and reeled in.
What are gar? Besides giving you bragging rights when you catch one, they are an ancient primitive fish. Fossils tell us they've been around as far as the late Cretaceous period, but it's possible they are older than that. Gar flesh is edible, but their eggs are highly toxic to humans. Also, being extremely bony, they are rarely consumed. Many are traded as aquarium fish. Native Americans, native Caribbeans and early Americans used the hard skin and scales for arrowheads, breastplates and to cover plows.
These living fossils are found only in North America. Though they look ferocious and can sometimes reach almost 10 feet long and up to 300 pounds, there are no reports of gar attacking humans. If you're looking for the ultimate adventure in sport fishing, gar put up the fight of your life!
Each order comes with instructions on how to use the lure, gar recipes and gar cleaning/processing tips. Lures are handmade in the USA! Order as many lures as you want and pay the same flat-rate shipping fee.
